‘1932’: ‘Yellowstone’ Prequel Casts Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren

“Yellowstone” fans are still reeling from the highly emotional and exciting spin-off, “1883.” The prequel series starred Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sam Elliot, and Isabel May (via IMDb). The show followed the first generation of Duttons who traveled to Montana via the Oregon Trail to settle in the west. Now it’s time for “1932.”

“Yellowstone” is currently one of the most-watched and talked-about shows on television. The show follows the modern-day Dutton family and includes a stellar cast such as Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Luke Grimes. The show garnered huge ratings during its most reason season and recently began production on Season 5, per Deadline.

Yellowstone prequel 1932 lands A-list stars

Creator Taylor Sheridan’s success with “Yellowstone” and “1883,” led to another prequel series. The show’s working title is “1932.” Not much has been revealed about the show just yet. However, this week news hit that A-listers Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren have been tapped for roles in the series.

According to TVLine, the show will “explore the early 20th century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.”

There’s been no confirmation about what characters Ford and Mirren will play in “1932,” or when the show may begin streaming. Ford is well-known for his role as Han Solo in the “Star Wars” franchise, as well portraying the title character in the “Indiana Jones” films. Mirren is an Oscar-winner who’s known for her work in movies such as “Reds” and “The Queen.”

In addition, Paramount+ is set to continue expanding the “Yellowstone” universe.  A spin-off titled “6666” has been ordered. That show will focus on the renowned Texas ranch, where beloved character Jimmy worked for much of Season 4.

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is a busy man

Of course, Sheridan isn’t only working on “Yellowstone” related content, per Variety. He’s also got five other shows in production, including “Mayor of Kingstown,” “Tulsa King,” “Lioness,” “Bass Reeves,” and “Land Man.”

“This volume of work is not sustainable for a long period of time,” Sheridan previously stated. “But it’s an opportunity to tell stories the way I want to tell them with a creative freedom that just doesn’t exist in this space. And so I kind of have to take advantage of it…I don’t necessarily want to be doing this when I’m 70. I don’t know that I want to be doing it when I’m 60. So I’d rather work real hard to do it now.”

You can catch up on the Dutton saga before “1932” premieres. “Yellowstone” and “1883” are currently streaming on the Paramount+ app.
