Texas Target Employee Can’t Believe Elderly Customer Begs To Enter Closed Store: ‘I’ll Do Whatever You Ask’

If you’ve ever worked retail in Texas, you probably already know the final minutes before closing can feel like the last scene of a survival movie. Customers suddenly remember they just need one thing, people pretend they don’t hear the announcements, and somehow the lights shutting off still isn’t enough of a hint. But one Texas Target employee recently dealt with a situation so bizarre that millions of TikTok viewers couldn’t stop watching.

The viral clip, which has already racked up millions of views online, captures a truly awkward moment inside a Texas Target store as workers try to close for the night. Instead of simply accepting defeat and heading home, one elderly customer decided to take a much more dramatic approach, and the internet has been roasting the entire interaction ever since.

The TikTok video begins in the middle of the chaos, but viewers quickly piece together what’s happening. An older woman can be seen down on both knees directly in front of the entrance doors while an employee repeatedly explains that the store is closed. It’s honestly the kind of scene you’d expect from a sketch comedy show, not an average Target run on a random evening.

TikTok Roasts Strange Texas Target Customer

The employee, clearly trying to stay professional while also processing what she’s witnessing in real time, tells the woman, “I cannot, I cannot! You have got to go, ma’am! You can come back tomorrow.” That still wasn’t enough to convince the customer to leave, though. The woman simply shook her head and stayed planted near the doors as if persistence alone was going to magically reopen the store.

At one point, the employee quietly turns to a coworker and asks, “Are you seeing this?” Honestly, that may have been the most relatable part of the entire clip. Because what exactly are you even supposed to do in that situation? Retail employees are trained for a lot of things, but there probably isn’t a handbook chapter called Customer Kneels At Entrance And Refuses To Accept Closing Time.

Things somehow became even stranger when the woman attempted to negotiate her way inside by saying, “I’ll do whatever you ask.” That sentence alone sent TikTok viewers into detective mode trying to understand what was supposedly so urgent inside Target that it inspired this level of determination. Eventually, the employee calmly explained once again that the store was closed because “It’s the rules.” And really, there’s not much more to say after that. Retail stores close. Employees want to go home. The end.

Texas Target Showdown

Naturally, TikTok commenters wasted absolutely no time turning the interaction into comedy gold. One confused viewer asked, “What is she doing?” while another focused on the woman’s defeated exit, joking about the “Walk Of Shame” back to her car. Another commenter admitted they originally thought the woman was trying to physically block the doors from closing.

As the clip continues, the elderly woman finally seems to realize there’s no way she’s getting into the store that night. She slowly turns around and walks away while the employees completely lose it laughing once the tension breaks. And honestly? Fair enough. After dealing with something that weird right before clocking out, most people would probably laugh too.

Thankfully, the strange showdown ended without anyone getting hurt, but the video once again proves why retail workers in Texas and everywhere else deserve way more patience, and probably a raise too. Because if this is what employees are dealing with during a simple store closing, imagine what happens during Black Friday season.
