Are You The One returning for Season 9

‘Are You The One’ Season 9 Is Finally Happening — What We Know

MTV’s hit reality TV dating series “Are You The One” is finally coming back. The show features a group of singles who are asked compatibility questions in order to be paired up with their perfect matches. However, there’s a twist. Each person is tasked with finding their perfect match and competes in games in order to win special dates.

The group has to collectively find their perfect matches and are put to the test each week in a matchup ceremony. By the end of the season, if each person has correctly paired up with their perfect match, the group wins a large cash prize. Of course, finding their perfect match often proves to be difficult for the contestants.

‘Are You The One’ Season 9 will stream on Paramount Plus

“Are You The One” Season 9 will stream on the Paramount Plus app, per Variety. The upcoming season will reportedly be a global addition. The show is setting the cast this spring, and begin filming new episodes over the summer. There is currently no premiere date just yet, but fans couldn’t be more excited about the huge update.

“Are You The One” previously aired for eight seasons on MTV and became a hit among viewers. The most recent season was the first to have a sexually fluid cast, making the matching process even harder. However, the series hasn’t released a new season since 2019.

The COVID-19 pandemic likely played a part in the show’s absence. However, some shocking assault allegations have also come into play surrounding “AYTO.”

Gianna Hammer’s ‘AYTO’ allegations may have hindered production

According to The Daily Beast, former Season 5 contestant Gianna Hammer claims she was given too large a dose of anti-anxiety medication while filming the show. Hammer was also reportedly drinking alcohol at the time and claims she blacked out, which led to an assault by a fellow contestant. Hammer also alleges that the cast and crew did nothing to stop the attack. She also admitted that the same cast member also made many of the contestants uncomfortable by using racial slurs, but that production did nothing to stop it.

However, after a long hiatus “Are You The One” will return for Season 9. While MTV fans will have to tune into the series on the Paramount Plus app to watch the new episodes, it will be interesting to see if the show still has the same appeal and fan following that it once did.
